Egerton occurs as little village set ternary miles northward of Bolton.a village requires its title from either the previous landlord of the front yard, Sir Thomas Egerton, Bart. It was developed in the 1830s after John & Edmund Ashworth install their gauze mills.
Philip Ashworth a boy of Edmund & Charlotte Ashworth, of Egerton Hall, Bolton, died 17 January 1871, aged 26 years. Interred within the English Burial site in Malaga, Spain
Now the village is in the main a commuter suburban area for the towns of Bolton and Blackburn and the city of Manchester.
